The past approximately 36hours have consisted of:
3 flights
7 hours sleep
3 countries
5 movies
2 special security searches
Numerous toilet stops
And 2 friends finally making it to SouthAfrica
We managed to leave Auckland airport with only a few tears on Courtney and my mothers account. Started of with security going through all of my carry on bag as something looked unusual. Boarded the plane and oh my goodness! So much leg room.
Had a quick transit at Sydney (after courts had her bag swabbed with drug wand) and picked up some other people to fill up the plane. Not a good sign when a lady comes on carrying twins who look about 3 months old and sit diagonally across from us. Not going to be much fun with them. Yet to my surprise I never heard a peep from them. Managed to get a few hours sleep on some awkward positions and then arrived in Dubai. It was 5.30 in the morning and 33degrees!
Last flight to Johannesburg was on a smaller plane. Now Courtney and I are now used to the A380, this 777 did not cut it. Thank goodness nobody sat next to us so we could spread across all 3 seats.
Arriving in SA and I was expecting to have to have bags x-rayed and questions asked etc. Nope! Quite the opposite. Got our bags and walked straight through. Looking at each other wondering if we have done something wrong.
The team that have arranged this trip picked us up and we were leaving the car park when I see a sign above the barrier arm that reads:
Please wait for robots.
All I can imagine in my head is a small robot coming out on wheels and lifting up the barrier arm. The guys driving the van proceeded to explain that robots were in fact traffic lights. MIND BLOWN!
I am unsure if it was due to being tired but the conversation in the at lasted for around 15minutes about why it is a robot vs why it is a traffic light. Could not stop laughing!
Now in real time I have managed to have some dinner and a shower and think it is time to catch upon sleep. It is 9.30pm here so think that is a pretty good effort.
Will try and update as I go however this wifi thing is a pain. But I will ensure I note down the good parts
